The legendary Thai period drama Love Destiny (Buppesannivas) is officially undergoing a groundbreaking transformation. This project features the highly anticipated pairing of August Vachiravit and Leng Thanaphon in the lead roles. In a bold move, the production team is remaking the iconic story as a Boys’ Love series. This news has captured the attention of both drama enthusiasts and global BL audiences. Consequently, the project reimagines the classic time-crossing romance while maintaining the emotional intensity of the 2018 original.
A New Vision of Fate and Time
The remake centers on Great, a modern-day surgeon from the year 2026. After a sudden accident, Great catapults back nearly four hundred years to the Ayutthaya Kingdom. He awakens in the body of Por Kaew, a man whom society deeply despises.
While struggling to survive, Great encounters Por Dech, a noble official during the reign of King Narai the Great. Great uses his modern, optimistic nature to win over those around him. Soon, an unexpected bond forms between the two men. This connection eventually evolves into a profound love that transcends time and fate.
The Debut of August and Leng
The series introduces a significant new chapter for both lead actors:
- August Vachiravit: August portrays the nobleman Por Dech. He returns to the BL genre following his success in the 2024 series Addicted Heroin. His former co-star, Mac Nattapat, has since signed with GMMTV in a new pairing. Therefore, fans are eager to see August’s new chemistry with Leng.
- Leng Thanaphon: Leng plays the dual role of Kaew and Great. He continues his trajectory as a rising star. Although GMMTV dissolved his pairing with Ohm Pawat after Kidnap, Leng remains under the GMMTV banner. This lead role in a “national treasure” remake serves as a major platform for his career.
Original Excellence with a Modern Twist
Director Mai Phawat returns to helm this adaptation. He previously directed the massive 2018 hit. Mai admitted he feels pressure returning to such a beloved story. However, he is dedicated to delivering fresh content for contemporary audiences.
Furthermore, the original author, Rompaeng, confirmed that the BL version preserves the core themes. The official poster already hints at this high quality. It features the leads in traditional Thai attire surrounded by a dramatic, candlelit atmosphere. This visual style pays direct homage to the 2018 original. Currently, the Love Destiny BL adaptation stands as one of the most ambitious projects in Thailand.
