With a landmark number of BLs being aired this year, it’s harder than ever to figure out which ones to watch. This 2025 recap for BoysLove Insider includes my top watches of the year. While most of these shows aired or completed in 2025, I added one older title that still deserves some love.

Shine the Series (2025)
This show took my breath away. It’s mature, emotional, and nuanced, grounded. It asks you who you want to be and what you’re willing to give up for justice. Plus, the production is outstanding, the music is dreamy, and it really does hit every note. I wish it didn’t cost a fortune to get a DVD copy shipped to me.
I loved it so much, I wrote a detailed review for BoysLove Insider: Shine Review: A ‘Revolutionary’ Thai BL Series.

Khemjira the Series (2025)
I know this show got a lot of attention before airing, but I didn’t pick up on it. It wasn’t until I started the first episode that I realized that I’ve been waiting for a show like this. This is the fantasy show of my dreams. It’s rich in character development, chemistry, and culture. It’s mysterious and enchanting. I loved the music, and again, wish I could pop the CD into my stereo.
Again, this one inspired an extended review for BoysLove Insider: Khemjira Review: A Supernatural Feast of Mystery & Romance.

Not Me (2021)
I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about this one. It’s inspiring, emotional, and hopeful. I’m not a fan of stories with twin powers, but they are used so sparingly that I didn’t mind. If you’ve been looking for the queer agenda, you’ll find it here. Better yet, it connects the fight to other oppressed and marginalized groups.

Honorable Mentions: 6 BLs from This Year

Ossan’s Love Thailand: I loved every silly moment of these goofs. It’s laugh-out-loud comedy that made me smile over and over.

ThamePo: Heart That Skips A Beat: I was surprised by how much I loved this one. It’s emotional, inspiring, and fun. A great romance and story, all around.

Revenged Love: A swoonfest out of China with a playful dynamic and great chemistry. This was another surprise, and I enjoyed the cat-and-mouse dynamic.

The Heart Killers: I loved the vintage vibes and the chemistry between both couples. I wanted a little more from the story, but I had so much fun watching it.

Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart: A great romp with distinct and interesting characters. I was rooting for them all the way through. (I avoided the special episode, though.)

Punks Triangle: I enjoyed this one so much. The characters are endearing, and I liked seeing the different sides of their personalities revealed.
