On September 19, 2025, GMMTV officially announced that Great Sapol Assawamunkong and Inn Sarin Ronnakiat would no longer continue their journey as a BL pair. The statement, polite and professional, spoke of “mutual understanding and respect”, citing both actors’ career goals as the reason behind the decision.

For many fans, the news was bittersweet — but not shocking. The pairing, affectionately nicknamed Greatinn, showed early promise but never reached the heights of other GMMTV ships.
From Promising Start to Fading Spark
Greatinn’s story began with Wandee Goodday, a series that gave them their first taste of BL spotlight. With strong production values, a good script, and their natural charm, Great and Inn quickly caught fans’ attention. Their reunion in Memoir of Rati further fueled hopes that they could become the next big GMMTV ship.
For a time, it looked possible. Fans blended their names into Greatinn, a crucial first step in BL culture where “ship names” often signify fandom power. But as quickly as the excitement started, cracks began to show.
Why the Ship Struggled
BL fandom thrives on illusion. Fans don’t just want strong acting or good scripts — they want to believe in the romance beyond the screen. Fan meetings, interviews, and social media interactions all become part of the “extended performance.”
In Inn’s case, however, that illusion was never sustainable. He has been open about his real-life relationship with Tai, a fact that was never hidden from fans or media. While admirable and courageous, this transparency clashed with the fantasy-driven BL industry. For many fans, it became difficult to imagine Greatinn as a real or “shippable” couple, even in fiction.
As a result, their popularity lagged. While other pairs trended worldwide and built massive fanbases, Greatinn’s hashtags, clips, and fan projects never gained the same traction. The numbers told the story: the spark simply wasn’t there.

A Necessary Ending
So, when GMMTV announced the official conclusion of their pairing, the decision felt inevitable. Instead of continuing to push a ship that wasn’t thriving, the company allowed both actors to move forward independently.
For Great, this could mean a shift into more mainstream acting, where his charisma and talent can shine beyond BL. For Inn, it’s a chance to balance personal happiness with new creative opportunities, free from the expectations of being half of a romantic duo.
What Greatinn’s Story Teaches Us
The ending of Greatinn is not a failure — it’s a reflection of how the BL industry works. Ships rise and fall depending not only on acting or storytelling but on the emotional investment of fans. When the fantasy fades, so does the fandom energy.
But beyond the illusion, there are real people — talented actors with personal lives and dreams. As fans, supporting them means respecting both their careers and their choices. Greatinn may not have soared, but their work remains part of BL history, and their performances will live on for those who supported them.
