The wait is finally over for fans of Taiwanese BL. After two years of anticipation, Wishing Upon The Shooting Star has officially secured a release date. This highly anticipated series stars Jed Chung, Chu Meng-Hsuan, JN Yu and Kagami Kota in a story that explores the thin line between reality and miracles. The drama will premiere on March 26, 2026, on the GagaOOLala platform. This production features 12 episodes, each running approximately 30 minutes. Consequently, it marks one of the most significant Taiwanese releases of the year, blending magical realism with deep emotional healing.
A Magical Wish and a Second Chance
The story follows Xian Yong, a timid office worker who loses his job in Taipei. Frustrated and embarrassed, he returns to his small hometown on Xingpu Island. During a night marked by a spectacular meteor shower, he makes a desperate wish to “disappear” and live in peace. To his shock, his wish comes true. He wakes up as a young man named Xiao You. Suddenly, no one remembers his true identity.
His father mistakes him for a non-paying backpacker and kicks him out of the family’s B&B. While struggling to navigate this new reality, he discovers a familiar face. The B&B’s newest employee is Hao Wei, his former high school senior and the person he once harbored a secret love for. As a massive meteor shower approaches at the end of summer, Xian Yong must confront his past feelings. He must eventually decide between living a miracle or returning to reality.
The Visionary Direction of Ray Jiang
Fan anticipation has skyrocketed due to the involvement of director Ray Jiang (also known as Ryan Jiang). He is the creative force behind legendary hits like We Best Love and My Tooth Your Love. Known for his ability to capture raw, high-tension chemistry, Jiang brings his signature style to this adaptation. The series is based on the popular BL novel, The Correct Way to Watch a Shooting Star by (觀看流星的正確方式) by Chung Min Jui (鍾旻瑞). Therefore, audiences expect a high-quality production that balances whimsical elements with mature character development.
