The Chinese BL landscape is heating up. Double Helix (双程), a modern remake of the cult classic A Round Trip to Love, is building serious momentum ahead of its 2026 launch. With new posters, preview clips, and growing online chatter, the project has quickly evolved from rumor to a major contender.
Four actors heavily linked to the project—Ayden Sng, Lu Sitong, Fa Xuange and He Jiashu.—have officially joined Mejoy Media. In the entertainment industry, when a group of potential leads suddenly lands under the same agency roof, it rarely happens by accident. Fans immediately went into detective mode, and the consensus is clear: the production is entering a serious development phase.
Meet the Cast
The production has tapped a fresh cast to lead this ambitious adaptation:
- Ayden Sng stars as Lu Feng.
- Lu Sitong portrays Cheng Yi Chen.
- Fa Xuange plays Qin Lang.
- He Jiashu.
The announcement has triggered intense scrutiny from fans. Viewers are already debating whether the chemistry can match the emotional intensity of the original 2016 version. Early behind-the-scenes clips suggest the leads share a comfortable rapport. This natural chemistry will be crucial, as the audience will judge the pairing within the first five episodes.
The Legacy of a Cult Classic
Originally released in 2016, the Chinese title A Round Trip to Love (双程) became one of the most talked-about Boys’ Love titles of its era. It built a loyal, intense following through high-stakes storytelling. The original series starred Gao Taiyu, Huang Jingxiang, Yi Shuai, and Xiang Hao, whose performances helped cement the drama’s place in the early history of modern BL.
The story follows Lu Feng and Xiao Chen, two university students from entirely different worlds who unexpectedly fall for each other. Their relationship faces fierce family opposition and social prejudice. When Lu Feng is sent away to Hong Kong by his father, Xiao Chen is left to navigate campus hostility alone.
Years later, they reunite in the workplace—one as a powerful boss, the other as his employee. It is a romance defined by misunderstandings, unresolved resentment, and lingering affection. It is famously messy, dramatic, and occasionally exhausting, capturing the raw intensity that defines the original source material.

What to Expect from the Remake
The Double Helix remake is expected to modernize the narrative to better suit today’s viewing climate. Fans speculate that the production will soften the outdated, often toxic tropes of the 2016 original while deepening character motivations.
Many viewers hope for a more balanced emotional arc. They want less “chaos for the sake of chaos” and more meaningful communication between the leads. While the remake will likely retain the core angst that fans adore, the production values will undoubtedly reflect a 2026 standard—polished, sharp, and visually cinematic.

Fan Expectations and Online Discourse
The reaction online remains mixed but engaged. Thrilled fans celebrate the revival of a classic story with modern production values and a younger cast. Conversely, some viewers express caution, noting the difficulty of remaking beloved source material without alienating long-time fans. A third group focuses simply on the visual appeal, declaring the cast a major draw.
Regardless of the initial skepticism, the project has commanded attention. Ayden Sng’s cross-market appeal adds another layer of intrigue to the series.
Release and Availability
While the production has not confirmed a final premiere date, current speculation points toward Q3 or Q4 of 2026. Industry experts anticipate the series will premiere first on a mainland platform, with overseas streaming options following shortly thereafter. Fans should watch for official platform announcements as the release window approaches.
If Double Helix successfully balances its heavier themes with authentic character moments, it could easily become one of the year’s most discussed releases. Fans of the Double Helix Chinese BL adaptation are currently analyzing every promotional poster for clues, proving that the anticipation is already at an all-time high.
