Wang Chen Rui makes his highly anticipated comeback with the new BL web series The Summer You Kissed Me (被你吻过的夏天). The short-form romance project officially launched its global episodic rollout on June 4, 2026. This melancholic coming-of-age title shifts away from traditional, highly polished corporate dramas to deliver an intimate look at first love. Consequently, international streaming audiences are heavily sharing initial episodic reactions across social media platforms.
A BitterSweet Plot Filled With Nostalgic First Love Angst
The production captures the intense, fleeting magic of youthful infatuation through a deeply sentimental lens. The narrative follows Gao Ran, portrayed by Wang Chen Rui, as he falls completely into a passionate youth romance. Set against a backdrop of sun-drenched beach days, two young men navigate heavy waves of deep attraction and heartbreaking emotional vulnerabilities. They share beautiful, unforgettable moments while learning to define their hidden desires.
However, the brightest seasons often cast the deepest, most permanent shadows over a person’s life. As the warm golden days shorten, the young lovers must face the painful realities of growing up and moving apart. Specifically, they realize that certain deep feelings remain permanently burned into the soul long after the summer heat ends. Therefore, the story asks a central, heartbreaking question about whether a first love built entirely on fleeting summer memories can survive the cold reality of an isolated future.
Wang Chen Rui Makes Comeback
The premium web drama serves as a significant creative milestone for the leading man. Wang Chen Rui has built an incredibly versatile acting profile over the past few years by jumping across entirely different television genres:

- Will You Think of Me at the First Time? (2025): He later expanded his emotional acting range by portraying the complex character Shi Bai Shan.
- Awakening the Steppe (2026): He started his busy 2026 broadcast year by leading the massive regional hit as the rugged Lei Ze Xin.
- The Summer You Kissed Me (2026): He rounds out his busy seasonal schedule by taking on the emotionally heavy main role of Gao Ran.
