The Official Plot of The Lie We Lived In
The narrative follows Seo I Do, a cold contract killer who arrives at a secluded house. His initial mission requires him to eliminate his target, Heo Dong Hwa. However, his boss unexpectedly changes the orders at the very last minute. The handler instructs I Do to keep Dong Hwa alive and hold him captive inside the house instead. The situation complicates quickly when a cheerful stranger named Chu Tae Jeong suddenly arrives at the property. Tae Jeong is an old friend of Dong Hwa who previously arranged a week-long stay at the house.
A sharp tension immediately crackles during their very first meeting. Amidst the household chaos, Tae Jeong mistakes the assassin I Do for Dong Hwa’s younger brother, Heo Dong Jin. This brother supposedly moved away to the United States years ago. I Do deliberately adopts the false identity to protect his mission. He acts like the brother while quietly plotting a way to remove the uninvited guest. However, his survival plan takes a sharp turn when he discovers that Tae Jeong is actually an active police detective.
An uneasy, secret-laden cohabitation follows for the two men. I Do struggles daily to keep his true identity completely hidden. Meanwhile, Tae Jeong continuously edges closer to the dangerous truth. This volatile pairing slowly triggers an irresistible attraction that neither man can shake. Caught between his life as an assassin and a growing pull toward the detective, I Do’s structured world cracks. Ultimately, as buried secrets surface, he must choose to finish the hit or risk everything for the man hunting the truth.
